Tennis Collectors Society | |
History Joining Members Newsletter Collectibles Book An item from my collection Members Links | The society was formed in 1988 by Gerald Gurney from England. He came up with the idea for the purposes of putting tennis collectors in touch with each other, encourage exchange of information on tennis history and collectables, contribute articles on their collections, give information on auctions coming up and their results, help with research into tennis and occasionally meet whenever possible. So far this is working really well and Gerald should be congratulated with the results he has made. If you would like to be part of our society and collect tennis in any area that tennis can be collected, why not join us. For a small outlay you can gain a large amount of knowledge about this area of memorabilia collecting. |
The society's address is care of;

This fee covers the cost of the production of the newsletter and postage to you. To your left is the address of the Society if you would like to write to Gerald and join up. If you do not want to join us but would just like to know more about the Society and what we do I'm sure Gerald would still like to hear from you. |
| It started off with 30 founder members of which I was one and has now grown to over 200 members in a few short years. Our members not only collect tennis items but also diversify into other sports or even away from sports altogether and into collectibles with themes such as politics, theatre, beer, pottery and blue willow china just to name a few. We have dealers in the club as well, recently a decision was made to allow them having membership. A few of our members have their own e-mail addresses and some have their own web pages, I already have some links at the end of this page, and will only add more as members ask me to. Membership is worldwide and is made up of the following countries so far.
Australia | Canada | England | France | Germany |
Holland | Ireland | Italy | Japan | Scotland |
Spain | Switzerland | USA | Wales |

The newsletter that is produced for the members is published in January, April and August each year, the January issue is sent out in December and apart from an updated listing of members and their areas of collecting it also carries a special theme. The cost of annual subscriptions is £15 if you are in England, or $24 US dollars, Gerald prefers to receive the Sterling currency. Payment must be made by the 1st of November each year. Back copies are available at a cost of £12 ($18) for 3 issues from any one year going back to 1988. All cheques should be made payable to Gerald Gurney who will also take any enquiries. |
| One of our members, Jeanne Cherry, has put together a book all about tennis collectibles. This is an excellent book with loads of pictures and descriptions of items that can be collected in tennis, and certainly worth having in any collection. If you want to have a look at Jeannes home page of the book the link is at the end of this page with other Society Member links. Be sure to come back and see the rest of my pages won't you! |
